Family Movement Foundation is a U.S-based (501c3) non-profit Organization was started by Boakai Manobah in June 2022. Boakai moved from Liberia to the United States after the country was plagued with a violent Civil War that lasted for many years. After the war, Boakai returned to his mother’s village, and saw first-hand how the unnecessary war had torn apart his once beautiful country. At that moment, he knew something had to be done to help those who couldn’t help themselves. This is when the Family Movement Foundation was formed.
Many children are not able to attend school due to high school fees that families cannot afford due to minimal employment being available. He first began by paying the school fees and purchasing learning material for all of the children in the village for the year so that they could attend school. But seeing how the government school was run, he knew he had to do more. The school was in a dilapidated brick room, electricity at minimum, old and broken furniture for the students to utilize, little to no books or learning materials, and no grade structure between the different ages; and yet the children who could attend, would do so with joy in their hearts and were just happy to have any form of education. With no assistance from the government to be seen in the horizon, he stepped into action and began to take the necessary steps to build another school so that the children of the village can have a proper education.
Our vison for the school in Liberia is to nurture, mold, and help shape the future leaders of the nation. By instilling core values, celebrating cultural heritage, and individual gifts and skill sets, our hope is that the children of Liberia will grow to become the best versions of themselves and one day become successful professionals.
The Family Movement Foundation’s focus is to assist those families, specifically children, in the Gangama Village of Liberia with free education. Ensuring that they are surrounded by everything that is needed and given every opportunity to produce successful leaders and professionals. The goal is to not only provide the children with standard educational practices, but to be able to set them up for future careers in needed trade professions and careers.
Our school will build a strong community outreach so that everyone in the village can benefit from the facility and help rebuild Liberia back to the once beautiful successful country it once was. Starting with one child at a time.
